Nigeria Immigration Service Ends Third-Party Visa Operations in the US

The Nigeria Immigration Service has stopped using third-party providers for US visa applications, requiring travelers to deal directly with Nigerian diplomatic missions.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has officially terminated its partnership with the third-party provider previously responsible for handling visa applications across the United States. According to an announcement from NIS spokesperson Akinsola Akinlabi, all individuals intending to travel to Nigeria must now process their visa requests directly through the Nigerian Embassy in Washington, DC, or the consulates in New York and Atlanta.

While no specific explanation was provided for the sudden termination of Online Integrated Solution (OIS) Services, the NIS emphasized that the change is effective immediately. The agency stated that its diplomatic missions have established new protocols to maintain an efficient workflow for visa submissions and processing. Applicants are encouraged to stay informed via official government channels regarding any procedural updates.

This policy shift aligns with broader federal initiatives aimed at simplifying consular processes and minimizing bureaucratic delays. Experts in the travel and immigration sector have long advocated for direct oversight to improve transparency and eliminate the extra fees frequently tied to external processing agencies.
