Nigeria Boosts Green Industrialization Strategy Following Mineral Report Presentation

Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dr. Dele Alake has received a new report on critical minerals, outlining a strategic path for Nigeria to utilize its natural resources for green industrial growth.

In Abuja, the Nigerian government has moved forward with its commitment to sustainable industrial growth. Dr. Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, received a significant report from the Council for Critical Minerals Development in the Global South during the AFNIS 2026 event at the Presidential Villa.

This document is the culmination of a multi-year partnership involving the Ministry, the Council, and Core International, which began during the 2024 conference. The Council functions as a hub for emerging nations to strengthen their local mineral supply chains.

The findings confirm that Nigeria possesses substantial deposits of copper, lithium, and bauxite, which are essential components for a clean energy transition. Minister Alake stated that the research offers clear policy directions to utilize these domestic resources to fuel green manufacturing. The report details the national requirements for electric vehicles, energy storage, and solar technology while identifying strategies to address current supply chain deficits.

Moving forward, the Ministry and its partners intend to develop a roadmap for mineral-to-manufacturing localization to ensure higher value retention within Nigeria. Efforts will also focus on fostering investment partnerships across the Global South to support future green industrial projects.
