Deceased NYSC member discovered in Bayelsa State

A serving NYSC member has been found dead in a waterway in Nembe, Bayelsa State, following reports of his sudden disappearance.

Okebaram Stanley Chimaroke, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) stationed in the Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, has died under mysterious conditions. The 27-year-old, who previously led the Students’ Union Government at Federal Polytechnic Nekede, was discovered in a waterway in Nembe following a search operation.

Reports suggest that Chimaroke, a Civil Engineering graduate, may have been targeted by attackers prior to vanishing. The disappearance was officially reported to the police on July 25, 2026, by fellow corps members Aribisola Bisi Isaac and Adeola Marvelous. According to local officials, he was last seen in Nembe Creek on the evening of July 24, after which his phone became unreachable.

Local authorities dispatched teams to the remote creek community to investigate the matter. As of now, the Bayelsa State Police Command has not released an official statement regarding the recovery of the body or the potential cause of death.
