The Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) has formally distanced itself from a counterfeit document currently circulating. The fraudulent paper requests financial contributions to help produce, print, and distribute the 2026/2027 Revised Basic Education Curriculum.
In an official statement released on Monday in Abuja, NERDC Executive Secretary Prof. Salisu Shehu labeled the correspondence as entirely false and unauthorized. He emphasized that the council never requested monetary aid from any entity regarding this project. According to Prof. Shehu, the organization has already secured the necessary provisions to handle the creation and distribution of the updated curriculum through established federal and state channels.
The agency warned stakeholders, government bodies, and the public to ignore these deceptive letters. Prof. Shehu reaffirmed the council’s dedication to upholding the integrity of the national curriculum and clarified that all legitimate updates will be shared exclusively through official NERDC communication platforms.
