Nene Aderibigbe, the mother of Afrobeats sensation Oyinkansola Aderibigbe—widely known as Ayra Starr—took to the streets of Lagos to build anticipation for her daughter’s upcoming album, Starr Girl. Ahead of the project’s Friday release, Aderibigbe, who goes by the handle Genzmummy on Instagram, posted footage of herself and the singer’s sister along with a group of women actively marketing the record.
The group, clad in coordinated black attire and purple head wraps, carried signs announcing that the album arrives on August 14. Aderibigbe accompanied the promotional effort with a spiritual dedication, declaring the project to God. This campaign serves as the lead-up to Ayra Starr’s third studio album, following her previous works, 19 & Dangerous and The Year I Turned 21.
Born in Cotonou and raised in Lagos, Ayra Starr gained significant recognition after joining Mavin Records and dropping her self-titled EP in 2021. Since then, her trajectory has included the Grammy-nominated hit single Rush. Starr Girl marks her latest musical milestone following her 2024 album, The Year I Turned 21.
