The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has refuted a viral message circulating on social media, which falsely claims that recruitment has begun for the 2025/2026 Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) and Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC).
In a statement released Thursday, the NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, described the message as deceptive and urged the public to disregard it completely, clarifying that no recruitment exercise is currently underway.
“The attention of the Nigerian Air Force has been drawn to fraudulent messages circulating online, falsely claiming that the NAF has commenced recruitment for the 2025/2026 BMTC and DSSC. The Nigerian Air Force wishes to state that no such recruitment exercise is currently ongoing. The public is therefore advised to disregard these messages in their entirety,” the statement read.
Ejodame emphasized that NAF’s recruitment is transparent, merit-based, and free of charge. He warned that the Force does not use third-party agents or collect any fees from applicants at any stage of the process.
He further assured the public that any official recruitment drive would be properly announced through reputable national newspapers, the Air Force’s official website, and verified social media platforms.
“We therefore urge members of the public to be wary of online scams and exercise extreme caution when coming across unofficial recruitment advertisements,” he added.
