Mshel Homes Limited has officially opened its premier Mshel Hutu Exclusive Golf Resort Estate located in Abuja. The project introduces high-end recreational and lifestyle amenities designed to establish a new benchmark for luxury residential communities in Nigeria.
Arc. Barka Umaru Mshelia, the Group Managing Director and CEO of Mshel Homes, introduced the estate as the realization of a goal to merge premium housing with top-tier infrastructure through a live-play-relax philosophy. The estate features a nine-hole golf course, a sprawling sports complex, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a seven-bedroom maisonette, and a clubhouse, all connected by a 2.7-kilometre road network.
Addressing the challenges of the project, Mshelia noted that acquiring the land was the most demanding phase due to financial hurdles and administrative obstacles. Despite these early difficulties, the team completed the initial infrastructure and several apartment blocks within six months. The term Hutu, derived from the Hausa word for rest, underscores the developer’s commitment to providing a serene environment for residents.
During the event, Mr. Sani Yakubu, Executive Director at MoFI and coordinator of the MREIF, announced that the federal government has secured N250 billion for its Mortgage and Housing Support Programme. This initiative aims to increase access to affordable housing, offering mortgage rates at 9.75 percent with a 20-year repayment window. He encouraged potential homeowners to explore these financing options via the official MREIF website.
Investors and early supporters have praised the development for its rapid transformation from an inaccessible site to a modern estate. Mshelia confirmed that future development phases are planned, promising continued expansion and the addition of further facilities to the community.
