Soldiers from Sector 3 of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have successfully seized a significant cache of narcotics and prohibited substances. The operation, which took place on Thursday, targeted an individual believed to be supplying these goods to insurgent groups situated in the Lake Chad Islands.
During a rigorous patrol along the Maiduguri–Monguno route, military personnel stopped a vehicle heading toward Kwatan Doron Baga in the Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State. They identified the suspect as 48-year-old Rachael Samuel, a citizen of Chad. Initial reports suggest she was transporting these materials to support terrorist activities in the region.
The confiscated inventory included 30 kilograms of compressed Cannabis sativa, containers of hydromercuric chloride, and various alcoholic beverages, with a combined market value estimated in the millions of Naira. Authorities also discovered a mobile phone, banking cards, and cash in her possession. Samuel is currently being detained by the military, and the seized items are being processed for transfer to the relevant authorities for legal action.
