Soldiers from Operation HADIN KAI, working alongside local hunters, apprehended two individuals accused of aiding terrorists and stealing livestock at the Buni Yadi market in the Gujba area of Yobe State. The mission occurred on July 24 at approximately 2:00 p.m., following specific intelligence reports received by the 27 Task Force Brigade.
The men in custody are Muhammadu Sani, a 32-year-old from Borno State, and 40-year-old Buba Umaru from Yobe State. During the apprehension, Sani allegedly assaulted a local hunter with a sharp tool, causing significant head trauma to the volunteer, though the troops were eventually able to subdue the pair.
Initial questioning indicates that Sani has acted as a logistics provider and informant for Boko Haram for roughly seven years. He reportedly guided fighters to local homes, facilitating the theft of livestock. Currently held by the 27 Task Force Brigade, both men are being scrutinized to uncover the full scope of their criminal activities. Security authorities highlighted this operation as a successful example of cooperation between the military and community security groups in rooting out those who assist insurgent factions.
