Michael Aondoakaa decries rising insecurity and killings in Benue State

Former Attorney General Michael Aondoakaa has called on the Benue State government to take urgent action against the rising tide of insecurity and deadly attacks across various communities.

Chief Michael Aondoakaa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and PDP governorship hopeful, has publicly denounced the surge of lethal violence occurring across Benue State. Represented by his media aide, James Ian, the former Attorney General insisted that the government must honor its constitutional mandate to protect citizens from harm.

Aondoakaa highlighted the recent murder of Alhaji Ardo Risku Muhammad, the Benue chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, labeling the act as entirely inexcusable. He further expressed profound grief regarding the massacre in the Sai Community of Katsina-Ala, urging law enforcement to apprehend the perpetrators immediately.

Highlighting the ongoing violence in regions like Agatu and Guma, Aondoakaa criticized the state administration for failing to secure its people despite receiving increased federal funds following the removal of fuel subsidies. He specifically pointed to criticisms from Major General Moses Gara of Operation Whirl Stroke, who previously suggested that the state government has failed to provide sufficient institutional support for security operations.

The aspirant argued that security budgets must result in tangible outcomes, such as better intelligence and faster emergency response, rather than existing as abstract figures. Additionally, he noted that the poor state of rural road infrastructure is hindering security forces from responding effectively to emergencies. He concluded by calling on all security agencies to ramp up efforts to eliminate criminal influence throughout the state.
