Celtic has confirmed that Shaun Maloney, Mark Fotheringham, and Stephen McManus will remain part of manager Martin O’Neill’s backroom team for the upcoming season. O’Neill, 75, recently signed a one-year deal with an extension option after returning to the club on a permanent basis in June.
Maloney and McManus previously transitioned from other internal positions to support O’Neill during his interim spells last season, while Fotheringham joined the staff after his time at Huddersfield Town. This announcement follows the departure of coach Gavin Strachan, who left to join West Bromwich Albion.
O’Neill, who previously managed Celtic from 2000 to 2005, recently guided the team to a league and Scottish Cup double after stepping in to replace Brendan Rodgers and Wilfried Nancy. Reflecting on the future, O’Neill noted that the collective effort of everyone at the club was vital to their recent success and emphasized the team’s commitment to delivering more achievements for the fans.
