The Spanish midfielder, who recently excelled during Spain’s World Cup run, is the subject of intense transfer speculation linking him to Real Madrid.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Catterall highlighted that Rodri has regained his elite form after previous injury struggles. He argued that the player’s presence is essential for the club’s success, claiming that a departure to Spain would derail their domestic ambitions.
While talks regarding a move to the Bernabeu for the 2026-27 campaign are reportedly progressing, Rodri has yet to agree to a contract extension at the Etihad Stadium.
