Manchester United shot-stopper Andre Onana is nearing a temporary move back to Turkish club Trabzonspor. While the transfer is not yet finalized, insiders indicate the deal is nearly complete and will not include a permanent purchase clause. Onana, who joined United from Inter Milan for 47.2 million pounds in 2023, remains under contract with the Old Trafford side for another two years.
During the previous campaign, the 30-year-old made 29 appearances for the Turkish outfit after being loaned out following a difficult EFL Cup loss to Grimsby. His stint in Turkey was successful, culminating in a Turkish Cup title. Although he was expected to join Manchester United’s pre-season preparations on July 9, he recognized that he would remain behind Senne Lammens in manager Michael Carrick’s starting lineup. With the goalkeeping situation at United shifting due to international commitments and potential departures, Carrick faces a period of transition as the squad prepares for their upcoming friendly against Wrexham.
