On Monday, Manchester City officially named Enzo Maresca as the club’s new manager. Stepping into the role previously held by Pep Guardiola, Maresca has committed to a three-year deal. To secure his services, Manchester City is obligated to pay Chelsea a compensation fee exceeding £17 million.
Maresca is no stranger to the Etihad Stadium. He formerly served as an assistant to Guardiola during the team’s historic 2023 treble-winning campaign. Furthermore, he managed the club’s Elite Development Squad, guiding them to a Premier League 2 title during the 2020/21 season.
Reflecting on his new position, the 46-year-old praised the organization’s structure, noting that the club’s innovative and purposeful approach creates an ideal environment for a coach. Maresca emphasized that this return marks his third stint with the organization, giving him a deep understanding of the high standards and expectations required for success.
