Jurgen Klopp Lined Up as New Germany Manager Following Nagelsmann Departure

Jurgen Klopp is expected to take the helm of the German national team following Julian Nagelsmann’s firing after an early 2026 World Cup exit.

Jurgen Klopp is the primary candidate to take over as head coach of the German national squad, filling the vacancy left by Julian Nagelsmann. Currently serving as the Sporting Director for Red Bull, Klopp is reportedly interested in the position. The 59-year-old has remained away from coaching roles since concluding his tenure with Liverpool in 2024.

The German Football Association dismissed Nagelsmann after a disappointing performance at the 2026 World Cup. The team was eliminated on penalties by Paraguay, marking a third consecutive early exit for the nation following group-stage failures in Russia and Qatar. Journalist Fabrizio Romano noted that while Nagelsmann hoped to keep his job, the Federation is looking elsewhere. Klopp is reportedly ready to discuss the opportunity if formally approached.
