Luis Enrique declares PSG ambition to secure every available trophy

Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has set high expectations for the new season, aiming for a clean sweep of trophies starting with the upcoming UEFA Super Cup against Aston Villa.

Ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup final against Aston Villa, Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has stated that his team is focused on winning every competition this season. Coming off a campaign where they captured the Champions League, Ligue 1, the French Champions’ Trophy, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, the French side looks to maintain its dominance.

The match takes place in Salzburg, marking the start of the new season for the reigning European champions. Luis Enrique emphasized that success must be proven on the field, acknowledging the inherent difficulty of constant victory while maintaining that the squad’s goal remains unchanged. PSG previously claimed the Super Cup last year via a penalty shootout against Tottenham.

Reflecting on the upcoming challenge against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, the coach noted the difficulty of gauging the opponent’s current form based solely on pre-season matches. He expressed confidence in his team’s ability to remain unpredictable. The PSG traveling squad includes Bradley Barcola, though recent arrival Lucas Digne will not feature in this match. Captain Marquinhos expressed his delight at Digne’s return to the club, noting their strong personal bond from their previous time playing together.
