Australia Demolishes Pakistan, Closing in on Semi-Final Spot

Australia moved closer to the Women’s T20 World Cup semi-finals after a 113-run win over Pakistan, powered by Ellyse Perry’s all-round performance.

Australia extended their unbeaten streak at the Women’s T20 World Cup with a commanding 113-run victory over Pakistan, bringing the team to the brink of a semi-final qualification. The six-time tournament champions demonstrated their strength at Headingley by posting a total of 199-7, anchored by Ellyse Perry’s impressive 71 from 48 balls.

Pakistan, who were already eliminated from the competition, struggled significantly and were dismissed for just 86 runs in 13.4 overs. Perry paired her batting performance with 2-9 in bowling, while Sophie Molineux also claimed 2-6. Muneeba Ali top-scored for Pakistan with 32, but the team’s innings was marred by three run-outs.

Despite the early loss of Beth Mooney on the first ball of the match, Australia’s batting lineup remained resilient. Georgia Voll contributed 39 runs, and a 100-run partnership with Perry steadied the innings. Useful cameos from Annabel Sutherland and Nicola Carey, who finished unbeaten on 26, ensured Australia maintained a high scoring rate. With this result, Australia prepares for a critical final group stage match against India on June 28 to determine the final standings.
