Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will launch the ‘Adopt a School Snacks for Thought’ initiative on June 30 in Lagos State. This program aims to provide daily nutritional support to 30,000 primary and secondary school pupils. By offering morning snacks and beverages, the state intends to remove hunger as a primary obstacle to effective learning and academic success.
Dr. Aderemi Adebowale, the manager of the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, announced that this initiative represents a partnership between the federal government, the Lagos State government, and all 57 local council areas. According to Dr. Adebowale, academic performance and cognitive development are frequently hindered when children face food insecurity during the school day.
The initiative is designed to be a transparent and scalable model that encourages contributions from private sectors, alumni groups, and philanthropic organizations via the PBAT FEEDS dashboard. By prioritizing early morning nutrition, officials believe they will see improvements in student attendance, concentration, and long-term educational attainment. This program serves as a strategic investment in the future of the nation’s human capital rather than a simple welfare effort.
