Kogi State Polytechnic in Lokoja has officially suspended six members of its teaching staff. The move follows serious accusations involving cult participation, sexual harassment, and the unapproved distribution of textbooks and educational materials.
Public Relations Officer John Onimisi confirmed the disciplinary action in a statement released on Sunday. According to the institution, the suspensions stem from a wider range of behavioral issues, including students being coerced into sexual exchanges for academic grades and the resurgence of clandestine cult meetings on campus. Reports also suggest that students who attempted to speak out against harassment faced intimidation rather than administrative protection.
Beyond these severe allegations, the institution is reviewing claims regarding the return of mandatory handout sales, inconsistent enforcement of dress codes, and lapses in student identification protocols. Onimisi noted that the school’s disciplinary committee is actively reviewing these matters. He stated that the administration is committed to taking necessary measures once the investigation concludes.
