Kuje Prison Visitor Arrested With Suspected Psychoactive Substances
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) says it has foiled an attempt to smuggle suspected psychoactive drugs into the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kuje, FCT.
According to FCT Command spokesperson Samson Duza, Njimogu Ikedi was apprehended on Saturday, September 20, while attempting to visit an inmate with items suspected to be cannabis sativa and other illicit substances hidden in his clothing.
Duza said the contraband was discovered during a routine search by NCoS personnel, after which the Controller of Corrections for the FCT Command, Christopher Jen, ordered the suspect’s arrest and immediate handover to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for investigation and prosecution.
Jen warned visitors against smuggling contraband into correctional facilities, stressing that NCoS personnel remain vigilant. He also urged Nigerians to support the Service’s mission of reforming and rehabilitating offenders to enhance public safety.
