The Ogun State Police Command has taken 89 drivers into custody for operating vehicles without registration plates or with concealed identity tags, citing significant security concerns. Police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed that these arrests align with a national order from Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu, intended to boost vehicle traceability and hamper criminal activity. Legal proceedings against the offenders are currently underway.
In separate anti-crime efforts, authorities apprehended two robbery suspects, Abdulsalam Adam and Israel Salako. Adam was captured following a foiled robbery in Ogere Remo, where security personnel recovered stolen motorcycles and equipment. Simultaneously, the Ajuwon Division tracked down Salako after a robbery involving a stolen Toyota Camry, which was recovered during a police pursuit.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the tactical response of his officers. He emphasized that the command remains dedicated to intelligence-led policing to safeguard residents. The commissioner urged the public to strictly follow vehicle registration laws and to exercise caution when using commercial transport, while encouraging continued cooperation with local security agencies to report criminal behavior.
