Kano State agency removes N300 million in fake products from circulation

The Kano State Consumer Protection Council has confiscated over N300 million worth of counterfeit goods during a three-month enforcement campaign.

The Kano State Consumer Protection Council recently announced the seizure of illicit and substandard merchandise exceeding N300 million. These items were recovered during a three-month enforcement drive throughout the state.

Jamilu Mustapha Yakasai, the director of public enlightenment, shared this update on Friday. Dr. Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, the council’s executive secretary, confirmed the figures while addressing staff members about the agency’s recent achievements and future goals.

During the meeting, Dr. Muhammad emphasized that the council remains dedicated to eliminating the trade and distribution of low-quality, fake goods. He warned that individuals caught violating these standards will face strict legal consequences. Furthermore, staff have been instructed to improve intelligence operations to track down those smuggling counterfeit items, ensuring that all apprehended parties are held accountable.
