Kano authorities intercept man transporting weaponry and military apparel to criminal groups

Kano police have apprehended 28-year-old Mohammed Isah Haruna for allegedly supplying military gear and ammunition to criminal gangs, following a tip from local residents.

The Kano State Police Command has taken a 28-year-old man into custody for allegedly transporting ammunition and military equipment to criminal gangs hiding in the forest. CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrest in a press release on Tuesday.

Mohammed Isah Haruna, a resident of the Dala Local Government Area, was apprehended on Saturday evening in Rimaye Village, Bichi. Law enforcement officers from the Bichi Division moved to secure the suspect after a local citizen reported seeing an individual dressed in military-style clothing. With assistance from local residents, police stopped and searched the man.

The search yielded a significant cache, including an AK-47 magazine with 30 live rounds, 79 extra rounds, multiple military uniforms, caps, a suspected forged ID, desert boots, and financial cards. Under questioning, Haruna admitted he intended to supply these materials to bandits.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori praised the Rimawa community for their vigilance. He highlighted that this successful operation demonstrates the necessity of civilian cooperation in maintaining public safety. The suspect is currently detained while police work to uncover his associates. Authorities confirmed that legal proceedings will follow a full investigation and encouraged the public to continue reporting suspicious activity.
