Kabiru Tanimu Turaki Rejects Alleged Endorsement of Governor Idris for 2027

PDP faction leader Kabiru Tanimu Turaki has dismissed reports claiming his group endorsed Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for the 2027 elections.

Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, who leads a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has distanced himself from claims that his group endorsed Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for the 2027 electoral cycle. Turaki, who previously served as Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, confirmed he had no prior knowledge of the reported meeting.

Reports from an online platform suggested that figures including former minister Buhari Bala and retired General Ishaya Bamayi helped organize the gathering, resulting in a formal pledge of support for the current governor. Dismissing these claims, Turaki explicitly stated that his faction was uninformed about the event and does not recognize any resolutions produced there. He went on to describe the reported gathering as nonsense.

These events occur during a period of internal struggle for the PDP as it gears up for future national polls. Currently, neither the faction aligned with Nyesom Wike nor the group under Turaki has named a preferred candidate for the Kebbi State governorship.
