In a historic political development, 30-year-old Anthony Osarobo has been elected as the chairman of Ovia South-West Local Government Area in Edo State. Representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osarobo secured a landslide victory with 98,994 votes collected across 10 wards.
Dr. Arodoye Nosakhare, the election’s returning officer, confirmed the results at the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission collation center. Osarobo surpassed 11 opponents from various political parties, who received significantly fewer votes. For instance, parties like ZLP and ADP managed only small double-digit figures, while others like the NNPP and PRP received only a single vote.
Following his win, Osarobo thanked the voters for their trust, promising to dedicate his tenure to the advancement of the region. State Commissioner for Livestock Development, Prof. Ikponmwonsa Omorodion, praised the election process for its transparency and peaceful conduct. He expressed confidence that the new chairman would successfully implement his development agenda for Ovia South-West.
