The Jigawa State administration recently stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is dedicated to fostering national economic progress and raising living standards via specialized social programs. Hon. Auwal Dalladi Sankara, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Humanitarian Affairs, provided these details during a media update on the Renewed Hope non-conditional social security grant.
Sankara noted that 154,412 vulnerable households in the state have been enrolled in the scheme. While the initial distribution began in January, the second phase is now in progress. Currently, 126,636 households across 27 local government areas have received their payment cards, with the remaining 27,776 slated for distribution shortly.
President Tinubu recently raised the grant amount from N10,000 to N25,000 per cycle. With three cycles planned, each recipient will receive a total of N75,000. The Commissioner explained that this adjustment aims to boost household welfare, enhance nutrition, and assist small-scale entrepreneurs such as food sellers and petty traders.
The successful rollout in Jigawa is attributed to the backing of Governor Umar Namadi, whose own development agenda aligns with these federal efforts. Sankara emphasized that this partnership between the federal and state governments is designed to lower poverty levels and encourage local economic growth.
