Jigawa Prohibits Graduation Events in All Senior Secondary Schools

The Jigawa State government has outlawed graduation ceremonies in senior secondary schools to curb public disorder and student misconduct.

Authorities in Jigawa State have officially prohibited graduation parties and similar festivities within all senior secondary schools. The mandate, which applies to both public and private institutions, was issued by the Jigawa State Senior Secondary School Education Board (JSSSEB) via a circular distributed by Deputy Director Mansur Ubale.

The government took this action in response to increasing reports of disorderly conduct, including unauthorized street parades and public disturbances linked to end-of-year celebrations. The board emphasized that such activities promote indiscipline among students finishing their final exams.

Principals, directors, and school owners are required to stop organizing or allowing these events immediately. The JSSSEB warned that any institution failing to follow this instruction will face strict disciplinary measures and administrative penalties. Education officials expect full cooperation to ensure student safety and community order.
