The University of Ibadan has introduced a pathway through its Open, Distance and eLearning (ODeL) initiative to help qualified applicants bypass traditional constraints like campus space and admission caps. This program serves as an alternative for students who took the Post-UTME screening but were unable to secure a spot in the standard on-campus format.
Prof. Olufade Onifade, Director of the UI Distance Learning Centre, confirmed that students who participated in the 2026 Post-UTME can switch to the ODeL program free of charge. This shift allows learners to earn the same prestigious degree as on-campus students, utilizing the same faculty members and high-quality instructional materials.
The curriculum features a blend of virtual classes, mobile resources, and periodic physical revision sessions. Available degree programs include Computer Science, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, English, and Social Work, among several others. These courses are designed to provide flexibility for students without compromising academic standards.
Interested candidates should note that the deadline for the special application window is August 15, 2026, with classes starting shortly after on August 17. While Post-UTME candidates can request a free change-of-mode, new applicants meeting the eligibility criteria are also welcome to apply through the official portal. University officials encourage swift action as enrollment spaces are expected to be filled rapidly.
