The Jigawa State branch of the African Democratic Congress has formally requested that Senator David Mark, the party’s National Chairman, remove their gubernatorial candidate, Senator Sabo Nakudu. The request follows reports that Nakudu was indicted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission for mismanaging constituency development funds.
In a petition submitted by party members Abubakar Sani and Ibrahim Maijamaa, the group referenced the ICPC’s Phase II report on constituency project tracking. The report allegedly linked Nakudu to the recovery of 2.8 billion Naira, alongside various equipment including Hilux trucks, water pumps, motorcycles, and drilling rigs retrieved from firms reportedly tied to the senator’s family.
The petitioners argued that Nakudu’s past legal issues as a former senator could jeopardize the party’s electoral prospects in the upcoming 2027 polls. They expressed concern that his background might allow political rivals to undermine their efforts to gain power in Jigawa State. When asked for his response, Senator Nakudu stated that he had not reviewed the petition and therefore could not offer a statement on the matter.
