Iran Mobilizes Over One Million Fighters as Ground Invasion Fears Mount

The Iranian government has significantly escalated its military posture by reportedly mobilizing over one million fighters in anticipation of a potential ground invasion by the United States.

According to the state-run Tasnim News Agency, this massive force includes a combination of the regular Army, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and a surge of young volunteers enlisting in the Basij paramilitary units.

This mobilization reflects a nationwide defensive effort, as military sources in Tehran describe the prospect of an American ground operation on Iran’s southern front as a “historical folly” and vow to turn the region into a “historical hell” for invading forces.

In Washington, the Pentagon is reportedly considering the deployment of an additional 10,000 troops to bolster the existing regional presence, as President Trump appears increasingly convinced that a ground maneuver is the most effective way to force Tehran to accept his administration’s 15-point peace proposal.

Despite the aggressive rhetoric and military build-up, the President has once again postponed threatened strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure. The latest ultimatum for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz has been pushed back to April 6, 2026, as the White House attempts to secure a diplomatic resolution before launching a more destructive phase of the conflict.

The situation at the Strait of Hormuz remains a central point of contention, with Iranian officials expressing a readiness to maintain the blockade even in the face of what they call “suicide and self-destructive tactics” by the U.S. to reopen the waterway.

As 20% of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas remains trapped behind the blockade, global energy markets continue to experience extreme volatility. While the 10-day window until the April deadline provides a temporary pause in direct attacks on infrastructure, the heavy mobilization on both sides suggests that the risk of a significant ground confrontation remains at an all-time high.
