Imo State Labour Party governorship candidate Hon. Ifeanyi Thaddaus Ezeagu has called on young Nigerians to move past political exploitation, violence, and defeatism. Marking International Youth Day, he argued that the youth are current stakeholders in national development rather than mere future leaders.
Ezeagu praised the resilience and creativity of Nigerian youth, noting that their potential is the engine for social and economic transformation. He criticized the reliance on empty political promises, advocating instead for structured policies that provide genuine opportunities. According to the aspirant, true empowerment requires access to quality education, healthcare, technology, and economic security rather than superficial handouts.
Highlighting his vision for Imo State, Ezeagu expressed a desire for a system where graduates and entrepreneurs can thrive without systemic barriers or poverty-driven obstacles. He cautioned young voters against being used as tools for electoral gains only to be ignored after the polls. Instead, he urged them to demand competence and accountability from their leaders.
Furthermore, he encouraged national unity, asking the youth to view the country’s diversity as a benefit rather than a tool for division. He pushed for active citizenship, suggesting that the transformation of Nigeria requires the direct engagement of its young population. Ezeagu concluded by reaffirming his commitment to treating the youth and women as essential partners in the progress of Imo State, urging them to embrace innovation and democratic participation.
