Ibadan Residents Host Interfaith Prayer Session for Kidnapped Pupils and Educators

Ibadan indigenes organized an interfaith prayer session to advocate for the release of abducted students and teachers while calling for improved security across Nigeria.

Members of the Omo Aj’orosun Club in Ibadan have gathered for an interfaith prayer session aimed at securing the immediate freedom of students and teachers kidnapped in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. Beyond this specific crisis, the group also sought divine intervention regarding the growing security threats across Ibadan and the wider country.

The event took place on Saturday to commemorate the club’s 46th anniversary. Spiritual leaders from various backgrounds conducted the proceedings, including Venerable Sammi Adetule of the Anglican Church of Ascension, Chief Imam Saheed Odekunle of Titilope Central Mosque, and Dr. Fayemi Fatunde Fakayode, representing traditional religious interests.

Mogaji Kamaldeen Adeniyi Salaudeen, the club president, emphasized that the group could not remain silent while students and teachers remain held by criminals. He stated that the primary goal was to petition for the safe release of those in captivity and to foster peace, unity, and protection across Oyo State and Nigeria.

Reflecting on the importance of the gathering, Dr. Fakayode noted that the prayers serve as a step toward restoring stability in Ibadanland and beyond. He highlighted that because Ibadan citizens reside globally, the club remains deeply invested in the collective well-being and security of the entire nation.
