The Kaduna State Government has honored Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to assist 97 individuals granted clemency on Democracy Day. Each of the formerly incarcerated people received N100,000 to aid their return to civilian life. The funds were distributed on Friday at the Kaduna Medium Security Custodial Centre.
Assistant Controller Dalhat Ibrahim, who oversees the facility, noted that this financial backing serves as a vital component of the rehabilitation process. He emphasized that by covering their fines and providing seed money, the governor is empowering these individuals to establish small businesses and contribute positively to the community.
Alhaji Mohammed Suleiman, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, confirmed that this disbursement completes the clemency program initiated on June 12. He advised the former inmates to remain law-abiding to avoid future legal issues. Two beneficiaries, Chuks Solomon and Abubakar Umar, expressed their gratitude for the second chance and the capital, which they plan to use for their transition into self-reliance.
