Kwara Leaders Dismiss G15 Threats Against Tinubu’s Administration

Kwara political leaders reject the G15’s attempt to use the Otoge movement to threaten President Tinubu’s 2027 prospects, labeling the group as political opportunists.

A group of Kwara State political leaders has issued a stern warning to outside actors and political opportunists, demanding they cease efforts to destabilize the state. Hon. Raji Atolagbe Muhammad, Alhaji Rahim Alamoyo, and Alhaji Issa Amosa Afon issued a collective statement accusing the G15 faction of attempting to manipulate public perception by falsely claiming the mantle of the 2019 Otoge movement.

The Otoge movement was historically significant for ending the political dominance of figures like Bukola Saraki. The founding leaders argue that the G15 is acting against these established principles. They noted that the G15 previously undermined APC party leadership and primary results, yet now tries to posture as defenders of the movement’s legacy.

Furthermore, the leaders condemned the G15’s recent petition to President Bola Tinubu. The petition suggested that the President’s 2027 electoral prospects in Kwara could be at risk if their specific demands remain unmet. The Kwara leaders characterized this as a form of political blackmail, arguing that such threats contradict the loyalty and grassroots sacrifice that built the Otoge movement.

According to the statement, many G15 members only turned against Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq after failing to secure personal political goals. The leaders insisted that the movement belongs to the people of Kwara, not to those who only surface in Abuja to serve their own interests. A large coalition of local leaders and stakeholders has formally aligned against the G15 to protect the integrity of the state’s political landscape.
