PDP Applauds Rescue of Abducted Oyo Pupils and Teachers, Urges Better Security

The PDP has lauded the rescue of abducted students and teachers in Oyo State while urging the federal government to bolster security to prevent further kidnappings.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed relief following the safe return of students and educators who were held captive in Oriire, Oyo State, for nearly two months. In a statement released on Friday by National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong, the party lauded the federal and state governments alongside security forces for their role in the recovery of the victims.

While acknowledging that the full scope of the rescue operation remains undisclosed, the PDP stressed that the ordeal was deeply distressing. The party firmly stated that the pursuit of learning should never involve such danger.

Highlighting the government’s core duty to ensure public safety, the PDP demanded immediate and effective strategies to halt future school-based kidnappings. The call follows the Presidency’s confirmation that the victims were recovered during an operation that resulted in the neutralization of several criminals and the arrest of eight suspects.
