Government pledges justice for murdered MACBAN Benue leader

SGF George Akume has vowed that the killers of Benue MACBAN chairman Alhaji Ardo Risku will be brought to justice and urged the public to remain calm while security forces conduct a thorough investigation.

Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has promised that the individuals behind the murder of Alhaji Ardo Risku, the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, will face the full weight of the law. The announcement was released via a statement on Sunday in Abuja by Yomi Odunuga, the SGF’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

Akume condemned the violence as a severe attack on the stability and unity that Benue communities have struggled to establish. He emphasized that the government is determined to prevent those who incite instability from reversing regional security progress. Drawing a parallel to previous investigations in Yelwata where suspects were apprehended and prosecuted, Akume demanded that security agencies, including the police and the Department of State Services, conduct an exhaustive and transparent probe into this specific incident.

Furthermore, the SGF urged the people of Benue to remain patient and avoid retaliatory actions, noting that lasting peace is essential for economic and social development. He conveyed his sympathies to the family of the deceased and the wider MACBAN community. Finally, Akume reiterated that President Bola Tinubu remains dedicated to providing security services with the resources and guidance necessary to combat criminality throughout Nigeria.
