The Gombe State Government has officially handed over sites to Datum Construction Nigeria Limited for the modernization of the Gombe Emir’s Palace and the Gombe Central Mosque. Managed by the Joint Projects Development and Essential Social Services Agency (JPDA), these construction efforts are scheduled for completion in half a year.
During Thursday’s handover, JPDA Director-General Dr. Mahmood Yusuf instructed the construction firm to adhere strictly to project specifications. He emphasized that the agency will maintain rigorous oversight to prevent any decline in construction quality, noting that Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya considers the dignity of traditional institutions a primary focus of his administration.
The agency has already renovated over 50 district head palaces throughout the state. Recent successful projects include the remodelling of palaces in Dadinkowa, Gona, and Funakaye. Additionally, work on the Gombe State Council of Emirs and Chiefs secretariat is close to being finished. These upgrades serve to protect local cultural heritage for future generations. Representatives from the construction firm, project consultants, and the Emir’s palace were present to witness the start of this six-month development timeline.
