George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has stated that the Nigerian government is focused on supporting the health and living conditions of military veterans. He shared this commitment during a meeting on Wednesday with a group representing the National Council of the Nigerian Legion, which was headed by Grace Morenike Henry.
During the discussion, Akume recognized the bravery of those who have served, noting their essential role in protecting the country’s unity and borders. He emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for retired soldiers who demonstrated courage throughout their service.
The government takes pride in both current and former military members, Akume noted, adding that their contributions serve as the bedrock of the nation’s ongoing peace. He pledged that the current administration would ensure these individuals receive the dignity and care they have earned. Furthermore, he promised the visiting delegation that their specific requests would be reviewed alongside appropriate state agencies to find suitable solutions.
