Rotimi Amaechi, the presidential running mate for the African Democratic Congress, stated on Tuesday that he holds significant grievances against President Bola Tinubu and his administration. During an appearance on the Channels Television program Politics Today, Amaechi alleged that the President and his staff are actively antagonizing the Christian community and the Catholic Church.
Amaechi emphasized that his own household respects religious diversity, noting that he provides facilities for both Muslim staff and Christians. He expressed frustration at what he perceives as a lack of respect for his faith. While he stressed that he does not discriminate based on ethnicity, he urged the administration to cease its inflammatory rhetoric.
The former minister declared that the government must stop insulting Christian leaders and the Catholic Church. He concluded by calling on the presidency to show greater reverence for religious institutions rather than deploying critics to attack the faith of others.
