One Killed as Security Forces Repel Attack on NIPSS in Plateau State

Security guards at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Plateau State repelled an armed attack on Wednesday, resulting in the death of one assailant.

Security personnel stationed at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Plateau State, successfully prevented an infiltration attempt on Wednesday night. During the confrontation, which occurred around 11 p.m., a brief firefight broke out between the guards and the unidentified gunmen.

Dr. Osime Samuel, the head of public affairs for the institution, confirmed in a Thursday statement that the assailants were forced to withdraw after security forces responded with precision. One of the suspects was fatally wounded during the exchange, while the remaining attackers escaped.

NIPSS officials confirmed that the perimeter remained secure and no staff, students of the Senior Executive Course, or residents were harmed. The institute emphasized its ongoing commitment to safety and noted that security operations have been intensified in the area to locate the fleeing suspects. Management praised the guards for their swift action and urged the public to avoid spreading unconfirmed information regarding the event. This incident follows a similar security scare at the same location several weeks prior.
