Algeria, Morocco, Cameroon, and Malawi have officially punched their tickets to the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. These four teams earned their qualification by reaching the semi-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) currently hosted by Morocco.
Algeria achieved a historic milestone by qualifying for their first-ever World Cup after a 2-1 comeback victory against a 10-player Ivory Coast side. Morocco also maintained their momentum with a 2-1 win over South Africa, while Cameroon edged past Nigeria 1-0 thanks to a long-range free-kick from 19-year-old Myriam Nyadjou. In a major upset, 153rd-ranked Malawi overcame a deficit to defeat Ghana 2-1.
While these four nations have secured their places, the remaining quarter-final losers—Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and South Africa—still have a path to Brazil. These teams will compete in upcoming play-off matches to determine who advances to the 10-nation intercontinental tournament, where three final spots for the 2027 event are up for grabs.
The 2027 Women’s World Cup will feature 32 nations and is scheduled to run from June 24 to July 25. To date, 18 countries have confirmed their participation in the tournament.
