The Federal Government of Nigeria is intensifying its efforts to simplify land acquisition, aiming to help low-income citizens secure their own homes. To support this initiative, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development will spearhead key conversations on land reform at the upcoming 20th Africa International Housing Show (AIHS @20 – Legacy Edition). Babamasi Haiba, the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, announced that the event will specifically address strategies for providing housing to informal and low-wage workers.
Scheduled for July 13 to 18, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, the Land Administration Session will bring together land commissioners, surveyors-general, policymakers, and private investors. Participants plan to explore methods for improving land governance, utilizing digital tools for transparency, and advancing property registration processes. The Ministry emphasized that efficient land management is vital for the success of affordable housing projects across Nigeria and the wider African continent. Festus Adebayo, CEO of AIHS, noted that these discussions will foster stronger partnerships between government agencies and industry stakeholders to drive meaningful land reform.
