Federal Government Denies Reports of ISWAP Raid on Monguno Girls College

The Federal Ministry of Education has officially refuted reports of an ISWAP terrorist attack on the Federal Government Girls College in Monguno, confirming that all students and staff are safe.

The Federal Ministry of Education has officially refuted claims that ISWAP militants launched an assault on the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) in Monguno, Borno State. Earlier reports suggested that insurgents had killed students and tried to kidnap others during a morning raid.

Folasade Boriowo, the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, stated that investigations were launched immediately following the rumors. After contacting the school principal, the ministry verified that the facility is secure and that regular classes are continuing as scheduled.

Conflicting reports had emerged earlier, citing an account attributed to Lieutenant Mohammed Goni of Operation HADIN KAI, which claimed that security forces prevented the abduction of 46 students. Despite these claims of a repelled attack, the Ministry of Education insists that no security breach occurred at the institution, which currently houses students from the Federal Polytechnic, Monguno. The ministry has reassured the public and parents that students and staff remain safe.
