Enugu Rangers Refute Ethnicity Bias Accusations from Moses Simon

Enugu Rangers have denied allegations by Super Eagles winger Moses Simon that he was denied a contract with the club due to his ethnicity, asserting that their recruitment is based solely on merit.

Enugu Rangers have officially rejected claims made by Super Eagles star Moses Simon, who alleged he was denied a contract with the club due to his ethnic identity. The Paris FC winger previously stated that he was rejected after a three-month trial because he was not Igbo, despite having captained the team during the screening process.

In a formal statement released on X, Rangers General Manager and CEO Amobi Ezeaku emphasized that the club does not practice discrimination regarding religion, tribe, or origin. The seven-time league champions stated they have consistently operated as a national institution for over 50 years, welcoming personnel from diverse backgrounds across Nigeria and Africa.

The club clarified that recruitment decisions are strictly governed by technical skill, character, and discipline rather than regional affiliation. They maintained that player selection is based on sporting merit and administrative needs, dismissing any suggestion that ethnic bias influences their hiring process. Rangers underscored that their current leadership prioritizes professionalism and diversity across all their teams.

While acknowledging Moses Simon’s right to share his past experiences, Rangers highlighted their commitment to unity and integration. They reaffirmed their focus on equal opportunity, stressing that talent and performance remain the primary factors for any player looking to join their ranks. The club concluded the announcement by invoking their traditional motto, Never Say Die.
