Simon Jordan, the former Crystal Palace chairman, has harshly criticized Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan. This follows claims made by Hassan and various supporters that the 2026 World Cup is being manipulated to benefit Lionel Messi and the Argentina national team.
During an appearance on talkSPORT, Jordan dismissed these conspiracy theories as baseless excuses. He labeled the remarks made by the Egypt manager as uninformed and unintelligent, emphasizing that such claims lack any empirical proof. According to Jordan, making accusations of match-fixing without concrete evidence is irresponsible.
Jordan further rebuked Hassan for his lack of professional conduct. He argued that as an experienced manager, Hassan should have the emotional maturity to control his public statements after a match. Jordan noted that while emotions run high after a defeat, seasoned professionals are expected to maintain composure during post-game interviews.
Hossam Hassan recently alleged that FIFA is intentionally favoring Argentina and Messi for financial motives following a 3-2 loss by Egypt. Jordan remains adamant that such public speculation is damaging and reflects poorly on the coach’s experience in high-pressure sports environments.
