Nigeria’s Federal Government has underscored the critical role of education in the nation’s growth. During the 34th Combined Convocation and Endowment Ceremony at the Federal College of Education in Eha-Amufu, Enugu State, Minister of Education Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa reiterated the administration’s focus on upgrading teacher training via the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Representing the Minister, Dr. Uchenna Cecilia Uba praised the outgoing Provost, Prof. Pauline Ngozi Ikwuegbu, for her impressive work in expanding campus infrastructure and academic standards. Dr. Alausa highlighted the success of the Dual Mandate Policy, which allows Federal Colleges of Education to grant both NCE and Bachelor’s degrees to raise pedagogical standards across the country.

Enugu State Governor Peter Ndubisi Mbah also lauded the institution for its historical importance in training quality educators. During the event, 1,569 students received their certificates. Prof. Ikwuegbu, concluding her eight-year tenure, credited her achievements to a strategy of rejuvenation, reconstruction, and repositioning. Despite her successes, she noted that the institution still faces hurdles, specifically concerning funding, security, and land encroachment, while urging further support from the government and private sector.
