Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) have entered into a formal agreement to create and offer an MBA program specifically focused on Hajj Operations Management. This collaboration, channeled through the ABU Distance Learning Centre and the NAHCON Hajj Institute of Nigeria, was finalized during an event at Hajj House in Abuja on July 31, 2026.
The initiative intends to build a structured approach to improve the execution and oversight of Hajj logistics. The scope of the agreement covers curriculum design, specialized course delivery, professional seminars, and research initiatives. It also incorporates opportunities for student internships and global industry networking.
ABU holds the primary academic responsibility for the program, managing admissions, faculty selection, and quality assurance. The university will handle examinations, result moderation, and the final issuance of degrees. Meanwhile, NAHCON will contribute its technical expertise in Hajj and Umrah operations. The commission is tasked with providing adjunct lecturers, organizing practical field training, and coordinating internship placements for students both domestically and abroad.
Regarding intellectual property, both institutions agreed that student and university authorship rights will remain protected. The deal was officially signed by ABU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Adamu Ahmed and NAHCON Chairman Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf. Several senior officials and directors from both organizations attended the ceremony to mark the commencement of this academic partnership.
