Ebonyi Commissioner’s Brother Shot Dead In Suspected Robbery
Nightfall turned violent in Ebonyi on Monday as suspected armed robbers gunned down Mr. Christopher Igwe, younger brother to Hon. Uchenna Igwe, the state’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
Police spokesperson SP Joshua Ukandu confirmed the tragedy, explaining that the attack unfolded around the Ishieke axis of Ebonyi Local Government Area at about 10pm on November 17.
According to Ukandu, the gunmen had just concluded a robbery at a cooking gas store when they opened fire indiscriminately. In that burst of chaos, Christopher Igwe was struck and killed.
The police say an investigation is already underway, with operatives working to track down the attackers. Ukandu appealed to residents to share any helpful information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible.
A life cut short, a family shaken, and a community once again reminded of how swiftly violence can tear through the night.
