Authorities in Kebbi State have taken 29-year-old Abubakar Musa into custody following allegations of conspiracy, religious desecration, and inciting public unrest. Musa, a resident of Rafin Mose Village, was apprehended after an incident reported in the Zango area of Zuru on August 9, 2026.
Police spokesperson SP Bashir Usman stated that the suspect allegedly worked with two other individuals, identified as Rabi’u Tela and Hamza Zango, to bury a copy of the Holy Qur’an in a pit. The burial included several items such as animal carcasses, kolanuts, and bodily fluids. The group intended to perform a ritual to exert control over Zarau Hassan, the wife of Rabi’u Tela.
While Musa remains detained, police are searching for his two accomplices who fled the scene. Commissioner of Police Umar M.
