During a Friday appearance on the children’s podcast “Storytime with the Second Lady,” President Donald Trump shared his thoughts on previous occupants of the White House. While speaking with Usha Vance in the Oval Office, the 80-year-old president described the room as the world’s most powerful piece of real estate. Trump noted that he spends more time reading news stories about himself than traditional books.
As he reviewed a book titled “Presidents Play!” regarding the hobbies of his predecessors, Trump provided lighthearted commentary. He expressed interest in riding a slow, lazy horse to avoid the risks of falling. Regarding swimming, Trump jokingly questioned whether he would look appropriate in a bathing suit, noting he has been too occupied to swim. He mentioned Franklin D. Roosevelt and Gerald Ford’s aquatic habits, referencing his own ongoing, litigation-heavy construction projects near the pool area.
Trump offered varied opinions on other leaders, calling John F. Kennedy the “second most good-looking president” and labeling Bill Clinton a “nice guy.” Conversely, he expressed doubt regarding Barack Obama’s basketball skills. He also addressed the record of William Howard Taft, the heaviest U.S. president, quipping that he must monitor his own weight to avoid surpassing Taft’s historic measurements. Addressing the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, Trump encouraged children to value the nation, describing the country as being at a critical turning point that he hopes to navigate successfully.
